Anti-Bullying - RFU’s ‘Speak Up’ Policy
The RFU is committed to developing a culture where it is safe and acceptable for everyone involved in rugby union to raise concerns about any unacceptable practice, behaviour, wrongdoing or misconduct.
Speaking up will enable concerns to be investigated and dealt with for the benefit of all involved and for that of the wider game.
Anyone making a disclosure can be confident that the matter will be handled appropriately and with an appropriate level of confidentiality.
RFU Guidance on Safer Recruitment Safer Recruitment
The RFU is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and adults at risk and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Children and adults at risk are entitled to participate in rugby union activities in a safe and welcoming environment. The RFU uses the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) to operate and manage a criminal record checking process for those working with children, which helps shape a safe and welcoming environment.
RFU Guidance on Photography and Use of Imagery
The RFU positively encourages parents and spectators to take photographs of participants involved in rugby to celebrate the ethos and spirit of the sport.
However, there may be circumstances where taking a photograph of a child might not be acceptable. Any photograph (digital or printed) which is produced and released into the public domain may be misused by anyone as once it has been released, all control over the image has been lost. In this day and age, when it is so easy to upload or email a photograph within seconds of it being taken, it is worth taking a moment to consider the issue of control.
RFU Guidance on Trips, Tours, and Overnight Stays
(For age-grade activities)
Tours are a long-standing tradition of rugby and the best tours are usually the result of
committed planning, as is the case with trips and overnight stays.
This aim of this guidance is to provide clubs with a resource towards running safe trips,
tours, and overnight stays, to assist them in fulfilling requirements under Regulation 10, and
that best practice is followed. The guidance is based on frequent questions posed to the RFU
and acknowledges the experience of those who have previously organised tours.
