VETERANS RUGBY BATTLE: DEEPINGS DINOSAURS v THORNEY OLD MONKS
FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS AT THORNEY RUFC!
Get ready for an evening of vintage rugby as the Deepings Dinosaurs (Vets XV) travel to face the Thorney Old Monks (Vets XV) this Friday, 24th October at 7:00 PM, promising a fantastic atmosphere under the floodlights!
This isn't just a friendly—it's a high-stakes local derby where experience, sheer will, and maybe a few aching joints will be the deciding factors!
These two local rivals are no strangers to each other, having met very recently. The Old Monks claimed the bragging rights in their last encounter, running out 36-22 winners earlier this month. The Dinosaurs will be desperate to settle the score, bringing all their collective wisdom and grit to the Ron Jacobs Playing Fields.
MATCH PREVIEW & THE TEAMS
Thorney Old Monks: The Monastic Masters
The Old Monks are a well-established and successful Vets side, known for their disciplined approach and historical success, including winning the East Midlands Veterans Plate in the past. They will have home advantage and the confidence from their recent win over Deepings. Expect them to rely on powerful forward play and intelligent kicking to control the pace of the game.
Deepings Dinosaurs: The Jurassic Juggernauts
The Dinosaurs, led by Captain Steve Capper, are renowned for their passion and commitment. While they came up short in their last outing against the Monks, this Vets side is determined to show their attacking flair. Deepings will look to their experienced campaigners to roll back the years, utilise sharp hands, and demonstrate the skill that saw their main squad look dangerous with ball in hand last Saturday. This Friday is all about revenge and pride!
