We took 23 players over to Thorney on Saturday 26th and were full of confidence. We met an equally confident Thorney team with 22 players of their own.
They pushed us back from the kick off and scored a very early try. The Dinos came roaring back and pushed their pack straight off the next scrum but despite dominating all scrums and winning most of the lineouts it turned into one of those date where nothing quite sticks.
Thorney got a second try just before half time to make it 14 - nil. Both sides had a lot of changes for the second half and the Dinos scrum dominance finally paid dividends with a well worked maiden try for Dave Crowson in the left hand corner. Deeping dominated the next 10 minutes until a high ball bounced off the Dino's full back into the hands of the Thorney 10 and they regained their advantage. Within 5 minutes they added tries from a missed pass and an interception to close the game out.
Next fixture is home to Market Harborough on 10th October.
