Deepings make two from three....

It took 10 minutes for the games to settle with both Stamford and Deeping holding their own. Then Centre, Dan Young, broke the College defence to open the scoring in right hand corner, the conversion was missed.
Deepings pressed back after the restart but poor handling gave College a scrum on their 5 metre line. The Deeping pack powered over the ball for possession which canes to the hands of Outside Centre, Steven Corrigan, who stepped the final College defender and scored, the conversion was missed for 0-10
Front row replacement for Deepings, Adam Gilbert on for Kirk Green.
Play restarted and a lovely chip in to the corner from Scrum Half, Dave Gaucci was superberbly picked up mid-dive by Wing Chris Day who went over in the left corner for his 2nd try in as many weeks.
Michael Harrison mades his long awaited return to the Green Machine unfortunately at the cost of Nic "Nobby" Coupland.
A turned over ball gave College a break and they scored under the posts. With a good conversion the half time score was 7-15.
The second half started with Deeping in control but the odd lack of concentration and subsequent penalties were giving College hope.
Chris Day looked to be in the another score, making a good 40 yards down the right wing he ran over the last defender but the trip hazard slowed his run down enabling cover defence to knock Chris into touch.
Then ex Stamford College player and Deepings No.2 kicker Guy Cunningham went for glory with a drop goal from 30 yards but his aim was slightly to the right. Alas it was the opposite verb of close!
Gaucci took the next 5 pointer and scored under the posts as the Green Machine start to hit up hard and straight resulting in a penalty awarded to Deepings and Gauci sees the space for a quick tap and strolls in. Nick Dobies protege, Cunningham, slots the conversion from directly in front of the posts to make it, 7-22.
Captain Gareth Silverwood takes a deserved breather as Kirk Green comes back onto the pitch.
A Deepings line out 10m out sees the ball into the safe hands of Michael Harrison. Fish [he] powers through 3 defenders and goes over for another 5 just to the right of the posts. Cunningham returns to form and misses the sitter for 7-27.
After a quiet period with both teams asking a few questions of each other. Deeping go for goal from a penalty. Sublimely slotted by back row, Dan Hainsworth, 7-30.
Dan Hainsworth and Adam Gilbert come off for Captain Siverwood and the better looking and all round better Cunningham, Felix.
Deeping are starting to annihilate Colleges scrum. A 5m scrum to Deepings perfectly controlled at the back by Hainsworth sends the ball wide through a couple of phases and it's Hainsworth on the peel that is by the corner to power over.
Cunningham amazingly slots the conversion from the right touch line, 7-37.
The final score comes from some champagne hands, big power running from talented second row Barry Hower and the Props, Silverwood and Green. In the resulting ruck Deepings get a penalty from 30 out straight in front of the posts. Cunningham doesn't buckle and kicks the 3 on the blow of the final whistle.
Final score 7-40.
