Deepings RUFC - Long Buckby 26th March 2011 Deepings – 24 Buckby - 24

It took just two minutes for Deepings to open the scoring, with Nick Dobie fearlessly charging down a clearance kick, Mikey Wainwright scooped the ball and cleared the defensive line with the Buckby fullback lined up to make a try saving tackle he popped he ball to winger Brian Ward for him to score the try.

Just five minutes later, with a mighty kick, Dobie drilled the ball down field into the Buckby 22 for a Buckby lineout, the ball was won by the Deepings forwards and from the resulting ruck, scrum half, Dan Hainsworth showed the dummy and burst through the gap he made for try number two.

The game settled for twenty minutes and Buckby were able to recover to some sort of order and showed they were still in the game, but on the 30 minute mark it was Deepings again to score. A free kick took the ball to 5 metres of the Buckby line. The Green Machine pack worked a training ground set piece move to send No 8 Ali Shaw round the line where he found space at the tail to drop over for Deepings third try.

Unfortunately for Deeping the Buckby lads were not at all happy with this and they opened up in the second half with some slick off loading and superior fitness to run back in three trys. Deepings full back, Vernon Horne was able to reply with a jaunt down the middle of the field and score one more try for Deepings bonus point.

A good day at the office for the DRUFC IXV to hold Long Buckby to the draw and a fitting result for both teams who played some super rugby.

Deepings final home game of the season is on 16th April against Northampton Mens Own.
