The strong winds dictated the play this Saturday as both teams fought hard to control the ball. Deepings came under strong pressure in the opening quarter with the Brackley keeping them pinned firmly in their own half until a fumbled ball spilled out for Vernon Horne to pounce on and sail through the stretched Brackley defence to open the score, with the conversion cleanly kicked by Steven Corrigan.
Brackley replied with a try of their own using the wind and a successful chase to score an unconverted try. Leading to half time Deepings went through ten minutes of injury turmoil, losing skipper Nobby Coupland to nerve damage in his neck and four minutes after his departure from the pitch his replacement, Lewis Cannell had be taken to local A&E in Banbury with two fractured ribs.
Brackley led going into the break after kicking a penalty goal.
The second half was a good strong contest with both teams giving nothing and battling the conditions. The visitors scored the only points in the second half with a set piece move off a line out which saw the Deepings Hooker over for another five points.
