Despite atrocious weather and a final scoreline that left a lingering sense of "what could have been," there was an enormous amount of character, graft, and encouragement to take away from yesterday's battle!
The Action & Scoreline
Half-Time: 3–12
Full-Time: 3–19
Our Points: Ciaran Thompson slotted a crucial penalty right between the posts in a hard-fought first half.
What Went Well
The Forwards Put in a Shift: The pack carried strongly all day, rolled up their sleeves, and put in some serious hard graft against the elements.
Resilience in the Rain: Gale-force winds and driving rain made handling a nightmare for both sides, but the lads never dropped their heads, sticking together and working hard for one another to the final whistle.
Territorial Dominance: We spent long, sustained periods camped in the opposition's 22, proving our shape and attacking platforms are heading in the exact right direction.
Defensive Steel: Outstanding tackling and a brilliant, battling team effort across the pitch kept us in the contest from the first minute to the last.
Areas to Unlock
Clinical Edge: We probably left a couple of tries out there. While getting into the right positions is half the battle, our execution was occasionally rushed. Smoothing out that final pass will turn pressure into points.
Take the Points: A handy lesson for next time—when penalties are on offer right in front of the posts, take the gift, keep the scoreboard ticking over, and get the ball straight back!
Missed Set-Piece Leverage: The uncontested scrums meant we missed a chance to squeeze them up front and put pressure on a dangerous opposition backline.
The Takeaway
Fine margins win games, and while their backs had a bit extra va-va-voom on the day, the attitude, teamwork, and commitment were top-drawer from 1 to the final whistle. We are building something special here—time to rest up, heal those bumps and bruises, and come back firing for next week!
Rest up, men!
