RFU - Governance and Representation Review

RFU - Governance and Representation Review

Deepings RUFC16 May - 08:00

The English RFU want your views on an ongoing consultation being run which seeks to modernise the way the game is governed in England.

HAVE YOUR SAY

The consultation is a crucial next step in the work of the Governance and Representation Review Group, which was set up last year.

After a year of fact-finding, including using insight from the National Rugby Survey, groups, and other major pieces of research that group identified key challenges with the way in which rugby is currently governed.

Key issues identified during this process were:

Overly complex and slow decision-making
Lack of transparency and communication
Insufficient representation and diversity
Ambiguity in roles between the Board and Council
High administrative burden on volunteer

Following this work, the consultation suggests a variety of governance changes, led by the principle of embedding and strengthening the voice of the game within the RFU and modernising rugby’s governance and decision-making structures.

It puts forward a range of core principles and options for the future while inviting other ideas and insights and we would love your views and input.

The consultation will run until 30 June 2025 during which time the Review Group is inviting views from clubs, players, coaches, volunteers, administrators, and anyone passionate about the game.
