It’s been a challenging few weeks for Deepings RUFC following the break-in 23 January, but if there is one thing we’ve learned, it’s that this club is built on incredibly strong foundations. The way our members, parents, and the wider rugby community have rallied together has been nothing short of inspiring.
We wanted to take a moment to officially say thank you to everyone who has helped us get back on our feet.
Raising the Bar (and the Funds): A huge shout-out goes to club member Emily Jellis, who took the initiative to set up a GoFundMe page immediately following the incident. Thanks to her efforts and the generosity of our supporters, we have raised an incredible £645 toward repairs. This goes a long way in ensuring our facilities are restored for everyone to enjoy.
The Great Deep Clean: Seeing our kitchen damaged was tough. However, thanks to more than 10 Minis and Juniors parents who spent their time scrubbing, sanitising, and clearing glass, we were able to complete a deep clean and reopen for food service the following week. Your hard work means our players and fans didn't have to go hungry!
Securing the Bar: We are also incredibly grateful to club member and coach Adam Smith. Adam stepped up to fit the brand-new bar door we purchased. Cheers for the expert craftsmanship, Adam!
A Wider Circle of Support: The support hasn’t just been internal. We have been overwhelmed by the kind words and offers of help from other rugby clubs across the region. It’s a fantastic reminder that the rugby family looks out for each other, regardless of the scoreline on a Saturday.
Finally, we would like to extend our sincere thanks to Lincolnshire Police. Their response on the night was exceptionally fast, and they have operated a flawless process throughout the investigation. We are working closely with them, and we have our fingers crossed for a successful prosecution.
To everyone who sent a message, offered a hand, or donated: Thank you. It shows we are stronger together.
