Summer is officially here, and while the league matches might be on hold, Deepings RUFC is gearing up for a massive August. We’ve got three brilliant events lined up, and we are on the hunt for some legendary volunteers to help us fly the club flag, give back to our local community, and raise some vital club funds (think shiny new training gear and clubhouse upgrades!).

You don’t need to give up your whole day—even just a single hour of your time makes a massive difference.

Here is where we need your muscles, your smiles, and your club spirit:

1. The Deepings Raft Race
When: Sunday, 2nd August
• The Mission: We need some strong adults who aren’t afraid of getting a bit wet! You’ll be helping lift the rafts out of the water at High Locks and hoisting them out at the finish line.
• The Reward: We’ll fuel you up first! Breakfast, tea, and coffee will be prepped and ready at the clubhouse at 11:00 AM before we head down to the water.
• Younger Players Needed: We’re also running a small gazebo stand by the river and want our younger players (accompanied by a responsible adult) to run our famous Scrum-Half Net Game. Kids play, win a sweet, and we get parent contact details to recruit the next generation of Deepings stars.

2. Maxey Car Show
• When: Saturday, 15th August (Pre-build on Wednesday, 12th August)
• The Mission:
o The Pre-Show (Wednesday): This is the day 3 of our committee members are "taking one for the team" to hammer posts into the ground in the blazing heat. If you can wield a mallet, come join the pre-build crew!
o The Main Event (Saturday): We need adults and younger players to help take ticket money at the gate and direct parking for the classic cars and general public.
• The Reward: Free entry to the show (perfect for the petrolheads!), plus complimentary food and drink.
• Shift Times: Helpers are needed from 7:45 AM to 4:00 PM (it usually quiets down after 1:00 PM). Just an hour of your time is a massive help.

Why these two events matter: The Raft Race and Maxey Car Show are our best chances to showcase Deepings RUFC to the public. Year after year, we get glowing compliments about how polite, helpful, and hard-working our young players are. Plus, these events bring in crucial donations that keep our club running!

3. President’s Day!
• When: Saturday, 29th August (Kick-off at 11:00 AM)
• The Mission: This is going to be a massive, fun-filled day for the club and the whole Deeping community! Alongside some great matches, we’ll have entertainment, food, and drinks all day. We need volunteers to:
o Staff the inflatables, sell wristbands, and monitor numbers (great for younger members paired with an adult).
o Help run the outdoor food and drink stalls.
• Shift Times: We need friendly faces from 10:30 AM to 5:00 PM. If you can spare an hour or two between enjoying the festivities, we’d love to have you.

Public events like President’s Day bring in much needed funds for our club to continue offering safe, well coached Rugby at affordable membership prices.
