Minis On Tour: Deepings Shine Bright at Stamford Festival

Alexis Bennett18 May - 20:58

Finishing the Season Strong, Building the Green, Black & Gold of Tomorrow.

The sun may have been shining, but it was a bittersweet Sunday on 19th April as the annual Stamford Festival officially marked the end of the minis season for Deepings RUFC.

It has been a fantastic year of growth, teamwork, and great rugby, and our young players made sure to finish the season on an absolute high. We were well represented across the age groups, with teams showcasing the very best of the green, black, and gold at U7, U8, and U9.

Meanwhile, our U11s continued their brilliant ongoing partnership with Thorney RUFC—this time proudly running out and competing in the Thorney colours.

Every single player gave it their all, but there were a couple of extra special milestones during the festival:

The festival was a massive milestone for our U8s, who played their final ever games of tag rugby. They have mastered the basics, shown incredible pace, and are now officially ready to take the big step up to contact rugby next season. Watch out, U9s tackles are coming!

The U9s finished their season in spectacular style. Continuing their incredible recent winning streak, they played out of their skins to go completely undefeated across all four of their festival games. A phenomenal effort from a seriously talented group of players.

With the festival drawing a curtain on the matches for this year, the club would like to say a massive thank you to all of our incredible parent volunteers, coaches, and, of course, the players themselves.

You have represented Deepings RUFC brilliantly all season. Enjoy the summer break, and we can't wait to see you all back on the pitch for the 2026/27 season!

Remember we are running the new free 6 week T1 Non-Contact Rugby course for all ages, kids and adults, on Sunday mornings at 10:00. It started Sunday 17th May and was well attended. Get the family along, and bring a friend!
