The Deepings Raft Race once again brought colour, crowds, and community to the River Welland, and DRUFC was right at the heart of the action. From the riverbank to the water itself, players, volunteers, and supporters came together to showcase what makes our club such a valued part of local life.

A Stall Full of Fun, Rugby Skills… and Sweets
Our river‑side stall proved a huge hit with families throughout the day. Visitors tested their scrum‑half skills by firing passes into training nets, cheered each other on, and walked away with a well‑earned bag of sweets for their efforts. It was a brilliant way to introduce rugby in a fun, friendly, low‑pressure environment and we loved meeting so many new faces who wanted to learn more about the club.

Alongside the games, volunteers chatted with visitors about everything Deepings RUFC offers: from Minis and Juniors to Touch Rugby, senior squads, coaching pathways, social membership, and venue hire. The message was simple, whether you play, don’t play, used to play, or want to try something new, there is a place for you at Deepings RUFC.

Helping Hands on the Water
Our involvement didn’t stop at the stall. Members and players were also out on the river assisting raft teams, helping lift and steady crafts, and supporting participants throughout the event. It was a brilliant display of teamwork and community spirit, the values that sit at the core of our club identity.

Minis & Tag Rugby (U6–U8) – Fun, movement, confidence building

We also offer FREE venue hire for parties, corporate events, community groups, and celebrations with accessible facilities, ample parking, and full event support.
