Deepings RUFC Welcomes Young Players!

Deepings RUFC3 Sep - 10:14

Rugby Season Returns to Market Deeping: This Sunday!

“Age grade rugby gave me the confidence to express myself, not just as a player but as a person. It’s more than sport—it’s character building.”
- Maro Itoje, England lock.

The roar of the Deeping Dragons is back! This Sunday, (and every Sunday there after) 7th September, marks the start of the 2025/26 rugby season at Deepings RUFC.

From 10am every Sunday, the club opens its gates to young players and families for a season of sport, teamwork, and unforgettable memories.

Whether your child is new to rugby or already loves the game, free taster sessions run throughout September, giving everyone a chance to try it out in a fun, welcoming environment. There’s plenty of free parking at Deepings School, and parents can enjoy a hot breakfast and drinks while the players take to the pitches.

? What Is Mini & Junior Rugby All About?
Mini and junior rugby—also known as Age Grade Rugby—is designed by the RFU to help children develop not just sporting skills, but confidence, teamwork, discipline, and resilience. It’s a safe, structured format that grows with your child, starting with tag rugby for the youngest players, and gradually introducing contact and tactical play as they progress.

According to the RFU, age grade rugby is player-centred, development-driven, and competition-supported, ensuring every child enjoys the game while building lifelong skills. Clubs like ours follow these principles closely, offering a nurturing environment led by qualified, DBS-cleared coaches.

Why Bring Your Child Along?
- Inclusive & Welcoming: All abilities and backgrounds are welcome.
- Builds Character: Rugby teaches respect, discipline, and teamwork.
- Physical & Social Development: Kids stay active while making new friends.
- Community Spirit: Deepings RUFC is more than a club—it’s a family, involve yourself as much or as little as you like.

Whether your child dreams of scoring tries or simply wants to be part of a team, the Deeping Dragons offer a brilliant start to their rugby journey.
