The spirit of Deepings RUFC was on full display over the weekend of April 11th-12th as our U7s, U8s, U9s, and U11s headed east for the annual Minis Tour to Holt.
It was a weekend defined by camaraderie, coastal weather, and some truly standout rugby that proves the future of the Green and Vets is in very safe hands.
The tour kicked off with a classic British seaside experience. While many of the families pitched tents at a local campsite, the squad headed to Cromer Pier for a spot of crabbing.
Mother Nature had other plans, however, and the North Sea wind eventually traded our crabbing lines for arcade tokens! The kids (and likely a few parents) spent the afternoon navigating the bright lights and copper pushers of the Cromer arcades, staying dry and building the team bond that would prove vital for the following day.
Sunday saw the sun—and the rugby talent—shine at the Holt Festival. Across every age group, our young players represented Deepings with pride, skill, and a "never-give-up" attitude.
The weekend’s crowning achievement belonged to our U9s. In their first-ever year of contact rugby, they have grown from a small squad into a powerhouse, bolstered by a fantastic influx of new players this season. They capped off their year in spectacular fashion, winning every single game they played.
"To see the U9s go unbeaten at Holt after transitioning into contact this year is a testament to their hard work and the great atmosphere at the club," noted one of the touring coaches.
Well done to all the players, coaches, and touring parents for making the Holt trip one to remember!
