Deepings Rugby Club is gearing up for an exciting evening of entertainment as we host our "Digital Race Night" on Saturday 7th February, with doors opening at 7pm and the first race thundering off at 7.30pm with 8 races in total. It’s a brilliant way to bring the community together, enjoy some friendly competition, and raise vital funds for the club.

But what exactly is a digital race night?

A Modern Twist on a Classic Race Night
A digital race night takes all the excitement of a traditional horse racing event and brings it to life on the big screen. Instead of live horses, the races are pre‑recorded, professionally produced, and completely randomised—so no one knows the outcome until the moment the horses cross the finish line.

Each race features a full lineup of runners, complete with commentary, photo finishes, and all the drama you’d expect from a day at the races. The only difference is that you get to enjoy it from the comfort of the clubhouse with a drink in hand.

How It Works
Before each race, guests can place small bets on the horse they think will win. Races can be sponsored, and horses and jockeys are also for sale. You can even choose hilarious names for the horses and howl with laughter as your commentator tries to read them with a straight face (probably not for younger ears!). Once the bets are in, the race is played on screen, and the room erupts with cheers, groans, and laughter as everyone urges their chosen horse to victory. Winnings are paid out on the spot, and the rest goes toward supporting the club.

It’s simple, social, and great fun—even if you’ve never watched a horse race before.
