Every November, as the nights draw in, there is one annual event that brings the entire community together: the Deepings Fireworks Extravaganzaa.

More than just a spectacular light show, this event—proudly hosted by Deepings RUFC—is a beloved tradition. For over 25 years, our fireworks night has been the largest and longest-running display in the Deepings, a true pillar of the autumn calendar.

From Small Beginnings to a Sky-High Spectacle
While the exact year of the first event might be a fond, hazy memory in the archives, what is clear is the spirit in which it was founded. The event was never just about fundraising for the club; it was about giving back, creating a safe, spectacular, and genuinely communal celebration of Guy Fawkes Night for the collective Deepings Community.

In the early days, it was a grassroots effort: dedicated club volunteers rigging up the sound system, the wives and partners of players running the kitchen, and local families gathering pitchside to watch a display that was probably modest by today’s standards, but unforgettable nonetheless.

Over the decades, as the Deepings have grown, so too has the Extravaganzaa. It’s a point of pride that we continue to host the biggest display we can, a reputation earned through years of commitment to delivering a true 'wow' factor.

The Heart of the Community
Today, the event remains fundamentally unchanged in its mission. From when the gates swing open, it’s a reunion. It's the moment for neighbours to catch up, for families to share a moment of wonder, and for the club to show its appreciation for the local support it receives all year round.

The rugby club ground transforms into an autumn carnival. The smell of hot food and the cheer of the well-stocked bar fills the air, setting the stage for the main event—the display that is guaranteed to light up the night sky.

This community focus extends to our partners. This year, we are thrilled to support Deepings Kindness, a fantastic local charity, helping them reach and support more people in our area. Every ticket helps not just the DRUFC, but the vital network of local groups that make the Deepings a wonderful place to live.
