The Deepings Vets first game of the season went well with the score ending 57 - 21. The game ended with the ceremonial burning of Peterborough players Dave Harrison's boots. Dave started his playing days at Deepings when he came out of the Army at 40 years old and moved to play at Peterborough 10 years ago. Dave announced as he basted his boots in a brandy. "I started playing at Deeping, I decided it was time to finally pack up at the end of last season but it meant more to me to stop were I started so I hung till today, it's a shame about the result but I enjoyed my last match.”
