Scratch Dinos side keeps Kettering to lowest score this season

Deeping Dinos pulled together a scratch side for the late arranged fixture with Kettering vets. We had several players playing in unfamiliar positions including JP Francis (played with a heart condition and has an operation next week!) at 8 and Jamie Luter at 10 and débutantes Charles Whalley and AJ Luter all coming on in the second half. The third débutante, Connor Barnes started at flanker and his power, pace and commitment won him man of the match.
Recently Kettering have put 100 on Peterborough and 90 on Thorney so it took a committed and courageous performance to keep the score to 41. Deeping started well but a kick through from the Kettering centres led to a scramble on the line which they managed to push over. Deeping came back strongly and more than held their own in the scrum with Kettering getting through 4 tight heads! There were exceptional performances throughout but particular mentions must go to Jamie Luter coming back to play 10 after his recent heart attack; Gaz Ward who was captain this week and was simply everywhere on the pitch making numerous carries and tackles; Gez Mulqueen who made several try saving tackles at 15 (a position he hates!)
We lost but it was such a magnificent performance from 1 to 15 that it felt like a victory and everyone should be proud of this performance.
Gaz Ward said "Everyone gave everythingin that game and as soon as they scored we started from scratch, no bitching or moaning, just got on with it"
That is the Dinosaurs through and through.
