We had a severely depleted squad come kick off but were pleased to welcome Stu Janaway and Darren Scalley, both returning to the beautiful game after many years away. We were forced to mix it up with winger Luke Whitby starting at 8 and jumping in the line out and both new (old) boys starting in the pack. Despite this we scored first against the wind and looked strong in open play. We were further bolstered by the addition of Nobby Coupland who shored up the pack. The scores were close at half time but we had no recognised 9 in the second half, St Ives added some speedy youth and we lost our advantage in the loose. Dino's tries came from Nobby Coupland, Kelvin Squires and Luke Whitby with this week's captain Nic Dobie adding a conversion.
I hate to lose but it was a good, hard game played in a great spirit and I hope to be able to set up a return fixture.
