so close they thought they had lost!

This might be the first time I had wished a game was longer! I freally think that with another 10 mins we could have won.
Both sides had predominantly vets which made something of a change from the last time they met! Sadly one thing that did not change was the Dino's making their customary slow start and the Juggers ran in an early try. This woke up the Dino's and Chris Towers made an inspiring break, stepping both right and left to shrug off 3 tacklers and plant the ball on the try line. A contender for try of the season that lifted the Dinos to greater efforts it was a very even contest with both sides attacking hard but meeting dogged defence and despite starting with the wind advantage the Dinos went in to half time seven 5 behind.
Early in second half the Juggers openside flanker made a strong break through to set up a second try for them out wide and things were looking bleak at 12- 5 until Andy (Jock) Meikle burst through the centre with Towers in support. Jock sold a dummy pass to Towers that could generously be called languid but it was taken hook line and sinker and he scored under the posts. If you ask him I am sure he will be happy to describe it to you in more detail. The try was converted by Matt Broughton playing in his first game for Deeping since we lost our regular kicker, M.Broughton senior last year. Borough scored again and then straight from the re-start to make it 22-12 before Dino's debutante Marcus Papworth ran in a long distance to make it 22-17 at the whistle.
In the Boro post match pep talk Tony McLure, the Boro captain told his boys how proud he was of them and that it had been there for the winning and how close they had come to nicking it! It was pointed out to him that they had actually won - I told you it was close!
