The Rewards of Coaching:

The Rewards of Coaching:

Deepings RUFC3 Jun - 08:03

Stepping into a coaching or refereeing role isn't just about blowing a whistle; it’s about shaping the culture of your club and the next generation.

"He's a truly special coach... his knowledge, his feeling with the players... are genuinely second to none."
- Maro Itoje, England

You don't need to be an elite mastermind to make that kind of impact. Every great rugby journey starts with a local club volunteer who stepped up to learn the basics.

Why Do We Do It?
Level Up Your Own Game: If you are a current player, coaching minis or seniors is one of the fastest ways to sharpen your own rugby IQ and technical knowledge, making you a smarter, more clinical player on Saturdays.

Stay Connected to the Game: If your playing days are slowing down, coaching keeps you right in the thick of the action and camaraderie.

Make Rugby Safer and Fairer: By learning to manage the game correctly, you directly ensure that young and new players develop a lifelong love for a safe sport.

Personal Growth: Leadership, communication, and problem-solving on the pitch are incredible skills that translate directly to your professional and personal life.

The Ultimate Reward: There is no better feeling than watching a player you’ve guided master a safe tackle, execute a perfect ruck, or walk off the pitch with a massive smile.

Getting Started is Easier Than You Think!
Many people hold back from coaching because they think it requires a lifetime of elite experience or hundreds of hours of studying. The truth? It doesn’t.

England Rugby has designed the coaching pathway to be incredibly accessible. Deepings RFC provides a highly supportive environment where experienced club members will help you apply what you learn.

We are hosting a First Contact Course [more details here] which requires no prior qualifications, features no stressful exams, and takes up just three hours of your evening.

We Want To Invest in Our Coaches: Endless Opportunities & Financial Support
This First Contact Course is just the beginning of the journey. There is a vast library of other England Rugby courses available to help you progress, from advanced coaching certifications to specialised refereeing, first aid, and safeguarding qualifications.

The Club wants to invest in you, the coaches, whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced hand looking to upgrade your skills. We don't want cost to be a barrier to your development. If you are committed to helping players grow, the club will offer financial assistance for course fees if required.

If you can spare one evening, you can become a certified asset to the rugby family, backed 100% by your club.
