U7 Dragons unbeaten at large festival in Norfolk

Playing teams from across Norfolk, the Midlands, Essex and the Home Counties, our U7s were magnificent all day and despite some stiff opposition maintained their unbeaten season.

After a day of team building and fun games on the Saturday whilst on tour, the U7s took part in one of the largest festivals in the South of England on the Sunday, at the home of Holt RFC.
On a glorious and sunny day, the youngest Dragons had 2 teams entered into the festival, The Ridgebacks and the Horntails, with 6 in each squad.
This Dragons squad continue to impress and raise the bar against every team they play, drawing admiring glances and positive comments from coaches and spectators from opposition teams, not to mention the extremely pleased coaching team led by Matt Allen.
The festivals rules required 3 passes to be made before a try could be scored, and all agreed that this would be referred with common sense. This ruling didn't phase the Dragons, who have for months now being passing the ball before the tag to open up space for the strong runners to exploit.
Playing their usual pressing game and passing before the tag, both Dragons teams quickly got into their stride forcing the opposition backwards and into errors which were punished by the speed of the runners and tries being scored.
Both Dragon teams rotate their players to ensure all players get equal amounts of time on the pitch and the opportunity to enjoy themselves. The fact that we do this, include most of our U6 players (non competitive games), and play to the standard that we do speaks volumes about the quality of this young squad.
The first 2 games for the Ridgebacks ended with good wins with the crunch game against Maldon RUFC set to test them. The team produced some exciting rugby, with spectators screaming their support for both sides. The dragons not only rose to the occasion, they soared! They produced some of their best rugby all season to complete super moves, fast paced tries, and so pleasing for the coaches, the 3 pass and loop move made its appearance in a match resulting in a try!
The Horntails produced some of their best rugby of the season with excellent defensive work producing mistakes by the opposition that were punished with tries scored. They blossomed in the spring sunshine and drew positive feedback from all that watched.
A great festival was completed by the Ridgebacks winning all 5 of their games and the Horntails winning 4 and drawing 1 in theirs. This is a great achievement from the youngest Dragons and against some big clubs the squad and coaches can be very pleased with the outcome of the festival.
The standard keeps getting set higher and higher by this group and has left the coaches immensely satisfied, a great end to a great tour.
