A real match of two halves but Deepings picked up the points.

Deepings first encounter with the relegated S&L side made for a great game of end to end rugby.

S&L took control of the match with an early penalty and continued to pick up points from the Deepings indiscretions and the threat of keeping the referees car keys so by half time had run up a 16 - 00 lead through three penalties and a converted try.
A long range penalty though from Nick Dobie straight after the break woke Deepings from their first half slumber and the scoreboard started to turn with another Dobie penalty.
After pressing up to the S&L Deepings a quick tap penalty from scrum half Lance Charity, saw him pinball through the S&L defence to score under the posts.
Steadily Deepings managed to chip away as the S&L team got more and more frustrated and worn down Dobie stepped in with another penalty to bring the scores to 16 - 16. Then with 8 minutes remaining Deepings left wing Michel Wainwright, returning to the side for the first time this season, gathered the ball and unleashed those dangerous legs of his. He blistered the turf as he set off down the touchline avoiding the pursuing S&L would be tacklers to get Deepings second try. The converted score gave Deepings the match and they move another slot up the league table to fifth place.
The IXV have a rest weekend on the 15th October and return on the 22nd October at Linchfield Road against Bedford Swifts, kick of at 15:00pm.
