WEEK ONE ??

With the eleven people ready to play we kicked off under O2 Touch Rules (http://www.in2touch.com/england/rules.php) using 5 a-side. The teams were Deepings School 6th Form vs DRUFC coaches, parents and Ben one of our U12s.

Playing on a tight pitch whilst we got to grips with the Roll Ball and counting touches we paused at 0-1 to the club team. We agreed a a move to a pitch 4yds wider and 5 yds longer creating more space and this allowed the skill, pace, fitness and use of the substitute to tell for the lads from the 6th Formas they finished this portion of our morning clear winners despite some great defensive efforts.

With the arrival of one of the U7's mums we moved pitch again to the wide open space of our own 'Twickenham'. Both sides started to revel in the space and despite the handicapped start given to the club team the scores were soon level. Using the wet conditions and determination the club side started sliding in Trys out wide, whilst the 6th Formers showed great footwork and awesome side stepping to to beat the inside defence. Another win for the school and great sportsmanship too.

As we were playing entirely for fun we agreed to mix the teams and the non-bibs brought on their secret weapon Ryan. Despite his tender he soon showed a clean pair of heels to Kieran and went on to finish on a jugs worth of Trys (3).

Kieran himself finished with 5 Trys and judged himself Man of the Match, Ryan's mum Clare also grabbed a Try in the corner.

With the Final score unrecorded it was agreed that all had enjoyed themselves and will be back next week for Round 2. Why not come down and get involved
