Bad Weather Policy for the use of all age groups and seniors.
Purpose of Procedure:
As rugby is played during periods of inclement weather it is foreseeable that there will be times when the playing surfaces are not in a condition to allow matches to proceed. In the event of bad weather the following procedure should be followed.
When bad weather is forecast in advance an early assessment of the likelihood of a game being postponed should be undertaken and early notice given to player, parents opposition, caters, club manager and referee.
It should be noted the the condition of the pitches at Deeping can change quite rapidly and where possible all matches should take place where possible. Games should only be called off prior to the day of the match were there is absolute certainty that the pitch will be unplayable.
If there are multiple matches to be played over a weekend and there is concern that the pitches may not stand up to all the fixtures scheduled then the priority of fixtures should be:
League or cup matches
Merit table matches
Matches that do not need a lined pitch. (e.g. some mini rugby fixtures, touch tournaments and other social rugby)
Games should be called off only as a last resort following a visual inspection of both pitches and photographs forwarded to the Hon. Secretary, email@example.com for agreement.
As early as possible on the day of the match, prior to the referees arrival, the decision to call off a match if the pitch is unplayable can only be made by the team coach or senior captain. If the referee has arrived then it is their decision as to the pitches being playable.
If there is any uncertainty to the pitch being playable then the Hon. Secretary or Club Captain should be consulted.
As soon as the decision to call off a match is made it is the team captain and or coaches responsibility to notify the following immediately:
Referees Liaison / Referee
Players and or Parents
Ensure club website is updated and notice of cancellation posted
Opposition coach / captain / fixture Secretary
Referees's re-appointment Secretary via text 07809 132980
